Styling Your Home for Spring

Good evening everyone and I hope that you are all well. I can’t believe we are in February already! That means we are step closer to spring and I have already started thinking about styling my home for the spring season.

I thought I would write a blog post with some ideas, show you guys some pieces I have bought and also share some which are on my wish list.

Flowers

If there is one thing that I will always have in my home throughout spring and summer, it is a beautiful bunch of flowers. I am quite fortunate that after my 30th birthday last week my house is full of gorgeous bouquets

For me, having fresh flowers around the home is about bringing the outside in. This was a gorgeous bunch from my partner for my 30th which I added more greenery to. (Don’t mind the zebra doorstop!) I am quite specific with the colours I inject into my home but these purple tones are just so pretty and perfect for spring.

A tip for creating your own spring bouquet is to just buy lots of different types of flower – I like to buy tulips, gypsophila, lepidium, eryngium, chamelaucium and eucalyptus. I would then decide on my arrangement and create my own spring bouquet. It does require some faffing and make sure you have a good vase or two in the house! I prefer vases where you can’t see the stems, like the one above in the picture.

Over the past year or so I have really found a love for plants and gardening. That has definitely translated into what I like in a bunch of flowers.

Scents

During the winter period, I like to burn festive candles and use wintry oils in my diffuser for that cosy, Christmassy vibe. Picking the right scent each year to fill my home for spring and summer is a really fun task. One of the best things I bought was an oil diffuser. I found mine on Amazon and there are plenty to choose from.

These two oils are a couple of my favourites right now – elderberry and fig leaf and peony and blush rose. Both of these were from Sainsburys. I also find a lot of my oils online. Sometimes the name of the oil is better than the actual scent but like I said, it’s fun and with a bit of trial and error you can have your home smelling like spring in no time.

Candles are another thing I like to fill my home with all year round. This one is by a company called Interlude and is part of a subscription gift for my birthday (thank you Alice!) It smells absolutely divine! In the spring, I like cotton and linen scents, florals like roses and lilies and also aromatherapy candles.

A couple of candles on my wish list are from a company called Skandinavisk. I had some candles from this brand before and they were so gorgeous. I am currently trying not to fill my shopping basket to the brim with all of their fantastic products.

Wreaths

I have always wanted my own front door to put up seasonal wreaths. When the house purchase completed in January, I was already thinking about my spring wreath. After asking for some ideas on where to find one over on my Instagram, I was kindly gifted this faux wreath from Petalhead Flowers.

I am in love with it and I couldn’t have asked for anything more. I love the greenery with a touch of lavender – perfect for the spring. I will hang it on a hessian bow just for that extra rustic, country feel. I feel so grateful that this was sent as a gift and I can’t wait to hang it on my front door.

Seasonal wreaths can really inject that extra zhuzh into your home – even if it is only something on the exterior. Seeing my wreath on my front door every day instantly lifts my mood. A spring and summer wreath is certainly something to try if you like a winter wreath.

Soft Furnishings

Changing over your throws, blankets, tea towels (yes, tea towels!) and cushions in the spring might seem like a waste of time. However, it can really make a huge difference. I put away our big furry blankets and I get out the lighter and softer throws. I have bought a couple of terracotta pots and invested in some indoor plants. I change our tea towels, our bed spread and even some of our cushion covers. I am really loving H&M home and Vinegar Hill at the moment. I am also a huge fan of some smaller interiors companies like The White Lighthouse, Ivy and Bee and Wild Mabel Home. There are some really gorgeous pieces on these websites which will help you style up your home for spring. I have my eye on a few bits!

I really hope that you have enjoyed this blog and that it has given you some inspiration on how to style up your home for spring.
