Big Plans

Good morning guys. I hope you are all enjoying the bank holiday weekend! I am currently sat in bed with a cup of tea and I thought I would write a little update on my life blog post.

As you know, the mortgage meeting went very well and I will be a joint owner with Mr RV in no time. It has been such an exciting process for me as I have never been a home owner before! In my previous relationship, I lived with ex fiancée in his house before moving to Munich where we rented. Before I met Mr RV I had no other option but to move in with my parents whilst I found my feet again. We used to do just weekends and the odd weekday but when lockdown happened, it seemed right to stay put.

Our little home is a bungalow and is a very modern design. The photograph below shows a snapshot of what it is like right now with current furniture, the holes in the wall where we want to hide cables from view and the bifold door out into the garden. It is also a mess at the moment but who doesn’t love a good before and after!

We have ordered two sofas for the living space in a gorgeous neutral colour, a tripod Scandinavian style lamp for to the right of where the TV will be and a new TV unit. Our kitchen table and chairs are very Scandi so we went for the same theme in the living room furniture with similar legs.

The plan for the art work is to take down all of it! Poor Mr RV! We are going to put the 3 big posters into the spare room/study and create a focus wall. We are then going to get some natural frames and neutral prints up in the living space. We want more muted tones throughout. Our plants will all have pots by the end of the day, again I ordered these in muted tones. We have started to replace bits and bobs in the kitchen with more natural wood than dark wood and we have more of that coming today.

We are going to go rug shopping once the sofas arrive and find a beautiful, big neutral rug to tie the room together. We have seen some we like but we are keeping our eyes peeled.

You can’t see the huge pine bookcase we have in the room but we are going to get rid of that and instead, one of the sofas will be put against that wall. We would like to have more art in the room that storage. We will buy some lidded baskets to pop under the TV unit for bits like DVDs and just clutter.

So those are our plans guys. I am excited to share the process with you and to also get you involved perhaps with picking one of the pieces of art we will have in our living space. So exciting!

Head on over to my Instagram to see the big reveal and all of the changes that we have made.

July Favourites

Good evening guys. Happy Wednesday! I thought I would keep up with my ‘favourites’ blog post and do one for July. As always, there are lots of different things on this list from favourite hair care to a TV series. This is a bit of a long, chatty blog post so I hope you enjoy it.

First up is the NOUGHTY To The Rescue Intense Moisture Treatment Mask. I was kindly gifted some Noughty shampoo and conditioner previously and loved the products so much that I bought the mask myself to try it. I picked it up on Amazon for about £7 I think. I don’t have a hair appointment booked until the middle of August so I wanted to find something deeply hydrating and after just one use, I could see and feel a huge difference. The shampoo and conditioner is also absolutely amazing. The brand is fantastic with their range of products being 97% natural and they always consider sustainability. All of their hair care products are cruelty free and vegan. I can’t believe I had never heard of this brand before. If you are after quality and hair care that is a bit of a treat but won’t break the bank then Noughty is for you. https://noughtyhaircare.co.uk/

I recently moved in with my other half during lockdown. Now lockdown is over, I have found myself staying after he asked me to move in with him! To celebrate, we decided to buy some new bedding from a company called Beddable https://www.beddable.co.uk/. We opted for the navy striped core bedding set where you get the duvet cover, fitted sheet and two pillowcases. Now this was on the pricey side and the reason why we went for something a little bit more luxurious was purely for quality reasons. We also didn’t want something that would date so this classic stripe was perfect for us. When the bedding came it was packaged really nicely with a thank you card and care instructions to wash before use. They even included a face mask which was so lovely. Whilst we are on the subject of bedding, we also bought two new pillows from The White Company in the sale and some pillow cases and pillow protectors from Tesco. Head on over to my Instagram and keep your eyes peeled for the big bedroom reveal very soon.

Let’s talk about gold jewellery. I recently made the switch from silver to gold – not for any particular reason other than with my skintone I think gold looks nicer. When I was engaged previously I had a platinum ring but if I was to ever get engaged again I would definitely want something gold. This necklace was in the sale in Accessorize and I am obsessed with it. I was wondering how long it would take me to get into the whole gold choker charm necklace trend and now I have one, I want another! This was super cheap in the sale and I got it for £5 with postage! https://uk.accessorize.com/ Top is from Monsoon. Blooming gorgeous! https://uk.monsoon.co.uk/

If you don’t know what Jamshed is, where have you been? I saw that @inthefrow had recommended this in some of her vlogs and I tried to find it everywhere during lockdown without any success. After popping into Tesco to a weekly shop it was there, staring at me so I picked up a bottle and six bottles later, we love it. In my opinion it is a really easy drinking red and even chilled, it is delicious! Best consumed wearing a dressing gown with your feet up.

I feel like I have to talk about this just because I have been so into it, but ‘Married at First Sight Australia’ has been annoyingly addictive! I am not going to lie – I am a bit of a rubbish TV lover. I had seen snippets of this programme when they did a UK season so I decided to put on the first episode of the Australian version and I was hooked. Not to mention, my other half would chip in with comments now and again, pretending he wasn’t interested but really was hehe. If you fancy a binge watch then the first 10 episodes are on 4OD!

I might have a slight basket problem. Honestly, moving in has been such a joy and it has been lovely looking for bits together to add to his home but how many baskets does one girl need!? I love these seagrass baskets. I use one as a bedside table alternative which is just super cute and easy to use, one houses our candles and room sprays, one is for extra bedding and the other is in the living room where our cables live to hide them away from sight. I need to stop buying them! I do manage to find them quite cheaply online or in Dunelm. Anyone else obsessed with baskets!? HELP! These ones photographed below are from Tesco but you will have to pop on over to my Instagram to see those when they arrive.

Anyway, I have rambled on far too much! Sending loads of love to all of you and I hope you have a fantastic evening. X

Featured #1

Since starting my blogging journey I have been spending a lot of time creating my own content, telling my story and writing about what I love. In addition to this, I have also been really inspired by other bloggers and their content.

With that being said, I want to write a featured blog once a month showcasing bloggers and Instagram accounts that I am loving at the moment. These ladies all have their own stories and their content is just beautiful. From fashion to beauty, lifestyle to travel, interiors to make up – I wanted to share their stories with you because they are really worth reading about. Please use the links to follow their blogs and Insta pages.

How long have you had @cotswoldscottage for?
I’ve had my home account for just over a month, started 08.02.19 (I’ve been on insta personally for a few years).
Why did you decided to start the account?
I was following lots of home accounts and find interiors really interesting. I’m proud of my home and thought if I shared it I would inspire more to make more changes and be bolder.
Top 3 tips
1. Research similar accounts and look at what hashtags they use
2. Comment on posts you like as often as possible. It’s lovely to receive a comment on your post.
3. Take a few photos at different angles to get the right one for the post. Then leave them in your camera roll for another time.

How long have you had @myunsecretmumdiary for?
About 18 months.
Why did you decided to start the account?
I decided to go into blogging because I wanted to share my struggles with depression initially, then when time passed and I became pregnant and happier I wanted to share my mum-to-be style. Now it’s mainly about the fashion because it’s my first love (but I still to and fro from mental health because it’s a struggle for me and very much important to me).
Top 3 tips
1. Patience, seriously. It doesn’t happen overnight. And it’s OK if you take a few breaks here and there, just cut yourself some slack and come back to it when you’re ready.
2.  Stay true to you- it’s not rewarding if you don’t do you. You can’t post about things you don’t believe in. Style is individual so post about the styles and subjects you really love, and nothing else! That’s what makes it uplifting.
3. Know what’s good and bad for you. It’s a learning curve. It’s all well and good following thousands of people but you want those people to really be other bloggers you believe in and enjoy following. Following a load of people that make you feel bad about yourself (through no fault of their own) because they give you major life envy or amplify personal insecurities can be addictive but it’s not good for you mentally. Focus on the people that make you feel good!

How long have you had @kandid_withak for?
I took an interest in photography 4/5 years ago, but just started blog recently – been a goal to start travel blog for a while now and finally had the opportunity to do so, with a bit of encouragement from a good friend!
Why did you decided to start the account?
I enjoy taking pictures and love writing. A few friends had been asking me for travel tips for various places across the globe so thought it would be a great idea to write a blog that can help others with their travels. I also found many travel blogs useful in finding hidden secrets of a destination and all the best cafes.
Top 3 tips
1. Plan your time effectively to fit around your normal working hours – stay organised.
2. Focus on area that you have a real passion for and make this come across in your writing.
3. Just do it! Don’t be afraid of other people’s opinions – if you enjoy it, then that is all that matters. Just dive in at the deep end!

How long have you had @erin_angela_xo for?
I have been blogging for for approximately two and a half years. I began my blog in the summer of 2016.
Why did you decided to start the account?
I’ve always loved makeup and fashion. I regularly read blogs and magazines such as Cosmopolitan and Vogue, which inspired me to start researching blogging. I decided to begin my blog as a way to share my own makeup tips, product reviews and makeup tutorials.
Top 3 tips
1. Identify your niche. Will you blog about beauty, home decor or fashion? Identifying your niche early in your blogging journey is a great way to get started.
2. Don’t give up – Blogging takes time and effort. It can become frustrating when you first start blogging, but it becomes easier with time and practice!
3. An editorial calendar is a lifesaver – About a week after I started my blog, I developed an editorial calendar to identify when and what to post. An editorial calendar not only kept my content organized, but it was a helpful tool to keep my ideas and inspiration flowing.

How long have you had @abigailkathleenlondon for?
3 years
Why did you decided to start the account?
I started blogging when I was severely depressed, I had read a magazine about mental health bloggers and a friend of mine Tanya is also a blogger. I decided to set up my own London lifestyle blog as a distraction, to keep me busy and creative. I fell in love with creating content, it allowed me to continue my photography as more than a hobby.
Top 3 tips
1. You don’t need flashy laptops and cameras. I have run my blog from my phone and iPad. A laptop does make life easier but don’t feel you need to spend a fortune on one.
2. Everything you need to know is free on Google and YouTube such as photo editing and SEO. I am always reading new articles about SEO through Google on my bus journeys.
3. Do not focus on what others are doing. Spend more time on creating content you love and the numbers and opportunities will eventually follow but be patient! Nothing happens overnight. I didn’t get my first opportunity until I had been blogging for 7 months. At the end of every post have a unique sign off and a little sentence to encourage readers to hit that follow button and a link to follow you on your preferred social platform (IG, FB etc)

Blogging is a community and a great platform to connect with new people. I am so glad to have found these women and hopefully sharing their stories has inspired you as much as it has me.
