August Favourites

Good afternoon everyone and happy Wednesday. It’s time for this month’s favourites. I can’t believe how quickly this month has gone. I will be back in the full swing of teaching in no time at all! As always, some items mentioned in this blog post are gifted and will be marked with a *

Let’s start with a couple of beauty products and a new moisturiser from Dermalogica*.

I am not wearing my mask as frequently as I was before my second vaccine so I am now wearing lipstick again! I found this liner and lipstick on Amazon from KIKO for great affordable prices and I love the shades for autumn. This is their ‘Smart Fusion Lipstick’ in shade 405 and the liner is shade 303. The liner is a little darker than the lipstick so you do have to make sure you blend it in with a gloss or a balm. They last well on your lips and I love the darker shade for the colder months to come.

Dermalogica kindly sent me their new product as a #skinfluener and I have been using it for a week or so now. Their new ‘Biolumin C-Gel Moisturizer’ does exactly what it says it does. On the first application, my skin looked radiant, glowing and felt amazing. I mix a drop into my tinted cc serum as part of my daily makeup routine too which gives me that weightless glowy base. I am really going to enjoy using this in autumn to maintain that holiday-like glowing skin.

Over the summer holidays I have really let me nails grow out as during term time I normally completely neglect them! I found some really gorgeous floral stickers on Amazon which you apply using tweezers and seal with a clear topcoat. I always put on a nail strengthener before I do anything else and this helps encourage growth and prevents breakage. I used the cherry blossom stickers for this manicure but there are so many to choose from in the pack I picked up – sunflowers, purple flowers, black and white flowers. It does take a bit of time and patience let me tell you but my nails feel fresh and it’s just a bit of fun.

Next up are some new additions to the master bedroom. I was so lucky to work with two beautiful interiors brands this month – Cotswold Grey* and Champagne & Ginger*. I was gifted this elm stool and blue cashmere throw from Cotswold Grey and then these belly baskets from Champagne & Ginger. They work so well together and make our bedroom feel cosy and ready for the new season.

Finally, I wanted to mention ‘The Midnight Library’ again by Matt Haig. It has been such a joy to read and I couldn’t recommend it more. If you haven’t read it, you need to!

Have a lovely day guys and I’ll be back on the blog next week with an autumn fashion post so turn on email notifications if you don’t want to miss that.

May Favourites

Good morning everyone and happy Friday! I’m sorry that my monthly favourites blog is coming out a few days late. It’s been a busy half term and I am finally getting some time to write this blog post so without further ado, let’s get into this months favourites. *This blog post contains gifted items.

Let’s talk beauty and skincare. First up, a trusty favourite from No 7 – the skin illuminator. Now the weather is getting warmer, I try to wear less makeup on my skin and this is perfect for that light coverage. I use the Simple booster drops with SPF 30 first and then pop this over the top. The two products together give you a gorgeous glow whilst protecting your skin from UV rays. As part of my summer makeup routine, I also like to use the Burts Bees All Aglow. It is THE only bronzer I use in the summer months – it isn’t drying or cakey and just adds that bit of extra warmth to your complexion.

Next up is this gorgeous Barry M nail varnish. I absolutely love a dark red toe nail in the summer months and this was just what I was looking for. This is the shade ‘French Rose’ and they have a few other gorgeous pinky tones in their ‘Rose Tinted’ range.

Last up for this month’s skincare favourites is the Typology charcoal mask with organic nettle *gifted/pr. I have been a huge fan of Typology for a while and have mentioned them in a few of my blogs. This mask is refreshing, thick and leaves my skin feeling so clean and replenished. Active ingredients are stinging nettle, green clay and pine charcoal. I love how organic and natural this skincare brand is – definitely one to check out!

I wanted to mention a pair of trainers I was kindly gifted by Gabor – these are their Wilma design and they are so versatile. In one of my recent blogs about dresses and sneakers, I talked about how I always struggled with what to wear on my feet in the spring months. Now, I always turn to a gorgeous pair of trainers. Check out that blog post here.

Finally, these gorgeous blue striped cushions from Lavendar Coast Interiors had to be featured in my monthly favourites blog. Click here for their Instagram. I was extremely lucky to work with this beautiful interiors company recently over on my Instagram page. I ran a giveaway where someone could win their own Portscatho and Portloe cushions. Unfortunately, these are both sold out now but keep an eye on what is next to come from this amazing country and coastal interiors brand.

I hope you all have a great weekend and sending lots of love.

January Favourites – Beauty and Skincare

*this blog post does not contain affiliate links.

It’s almost the of January and I can’t believe how quickly this month has gone. It feels like it has flown by. With the end of a month comes my monthly favourites but I haven’t been as organised as normal – perhaps just lack of motivation on my part. I asked over on my Instagram what you wanted to see next on the blog and a lot of you messaged me about winter skincare products. I did also get messages about spring staples and transitional pieces but I did that on my story yesterday so head on over to my Instagram to see that @rebeccaavalentina 🙌 In this blog post I have three skincare products to share with you but also a few other bits I have loved this month.

The three skincare products I have religiously been using this January are the L’Oreal Age Perfect Golden Age Rosy Glow & Radiance Tinted Day Cream, ESPA’s Restorative Body Oil and Origins Refreshing Scrub Cleanser. I will share with you the other products I have been using at the end of the blog but these are my go to products at the moment.

The L’Oreal Age Perfect day cream is designed for ‘mature’ skin. However, at high street prices (I grabbed this from Amazon for £7.50) this honestly is worth a try, whatever your age! It helps rehydrate the skin with a healthy rosy glow and it is such a nourishing face cream. There is another version of this with SPF20.

ESPA has been a brand I have wanted to try for a while now and this restorative body oil is just divine. It smells like a spa! I don’t use it every single day after I shower because I don’t want it to run out (anyone else do this?) I use it on those self care days when I want to feel more pampered. It retails for £34. Another reason to not use it every day perhaps!

Finally, the Origins refreshing scrub cleanser from the Ginzing range is my favourite exfoliator at the moment. My skin feels so clean and fresh after using this and I have been using it about twice a week. Definitely one of those products to lean towards if you want your skin to look and feel new.

In addition to my favourites, I have also been using other skincare products from ESPA and Origins which have been great this month. Other products from Origins which I have loved are the Ginzing Oil-Free Energy-Boosting Gel Moisturizer, the Ginzing Energy-Boosting Tinted Moisturiser with SPF40 and the Ginzing Refreshing Eye Cream. The only thing I would say about this range is that personally, my experience has been to use these products before bed and not in the mornings as they are so nourishing and applying makeup afterwards just means the two react. You can shop the Ginzing range here.

Other products from ESPA I have used are the Tri-Active Resilience Pro-Biome Serum, Pomelo Lip Balm which is amazing, Skin Rescue Balm, Positivity Bath and Shower Gel and Overnight Hydration Therapy cream (game changer!) I will be using their Pink Hair and Scalp Mud at the end of the week just as a little treat to myself before my 30th birthday on Friday. I will be sure to report back about it over on my Instagram. You can shop ESPA here.

Before I move onto some makeup I am loving at the moment, I have also been using Liz Earle’s Instant Boost Skin Tonic every day. It smells gorgeous and I love that all the ingredients are natural. I mean, I love anything from Liz Earle! I have also been trying Radiance Booster SPF30 drops from Simple which you apply before makeup to give your skin that extra protection. I really like these but I need to use them more often to really review the product properly. Finally, in this cold and dry weather my nails need some TLC so I bought the Stronger Nail – Nail Nurse varnish from Rimmel and so far so good. I have been growing my nails for the first time ever and I have had just one breakage from pulling out a drawer too quickly!

When it comes to that glow in the winter, these are the ONLY two products I use – L’Oreal Glow Cherie and No 7 Skin Illuminator. I actually mix a bit of both together before applying and I always get asked how I apply my base. I am sorry to disappoint guys but it is just with my hands. I do have brushes for concealer, bronzer and blush but I don’t get on with beauty blenders. I have talked about these products before in previous posts because they are just so good. If you are looking for a dupe of products like the By Terry CC Serum, then these two products together won’t disappoint.

I have rambled on far too much so I am off to make a coffee. If you have any questions just email me or follow me over on Instagram! My DM’s are always open.

October Favourites

Good afternoon guys. I was sat all snuggled up under blankets om my sofa, listening to the rain and I remembered that I needed to write my monthly favourites blog post. Here are the products that cut the mustard for me this month.

First up is the Revlon ColourStay Ultimate Suede Lipstick in shade ‘Socialite’. I am constantly looking for lipsticks and lip stains that last more than the second cup of coffee in a day. I saw that this had good reviews online so I thought I would try it out and I am so glad I did. This is literally what I have been looking for this whole time! It lasts in-between endless cups of coffee and all of those cakes I should definitely not be eating. It comes in so many different shades. I picked mine up on Amazon for £8.99.

Next is this nail polish from No7 in shade ‘Tangy’. I love a bright nail colour for the festive period and this one was just so bright and such a statement. I am normally somebody who wears nudes all year round but I fell in love with this. I actually got this on eBay and picked it up for £5.49.

Another eBay purchase is the Origins Ginzing Oil-Free Energy Boosting Gel Moisturiser. I was totally influenced to try this so I picked up a smaller sample size first. Let me tell you, this has made the Christmas want list this year! It smells delicious and it has made such a difference to the brightness of my skin. I picked up this little bottle for £7.99. Perhaps a little pricey but I wanted to try it out first before buying the bigger tub.

Finally is the Maybelline Lash Sensational in shade ‘Very Black’. I have been using this mascara for as long as I can remember now but this month was the first time I tried the ‘very black’ shade. There isn’t a huge different between ‘black’ and ‘very black’ but you don’t have to apply as many coats to get a full fan effect. Again, this is something else I got on Amazon for about £5.

I am off to have another coffee, do a spot of Christmas shopping and maybe…have a nap. It is half term after all! I hope you all have a lovely afternoon and I will catch up with you all soon. x

High Street Glow

Happy Sunday gang! I hope everyone has had a great weekend. ♥️

Whenever I think about makeup, I think about how to get that glow. I have written a couple of blog posts about different makeup routines trying out different products but this is my every day go-to makeup look.

I have been using these same products now for months and they are all from the high street. As much as I would love to use higher end products, my bank balance just doesn’t stretch that far I am afraid. If you want an affordable glowy makeup routine then here are some incredible products that won’t let you down.

First up, Glow Cherie from L’Oreal Paris. Before I even found this, I was using Bonjour Sunshine Liquid Bronzer by L’Oreal – equally as amazing. Glow Cherie wakes up your skin with a luminous, radiant glow. This hydrating skin enhancer covers imperfections and skin instantly appears healthier and glowing. Sometimes I only wear this!

If I want that extra glowy, dewy look then I put a pump of Glow Cherie mixed with No 7’s Skin Illuminator and Miracle Glow from Max Factor. This combination is flawless. All of these products can be used on their own but I love mixing them together.

The concealer I have been using for years now is L’Oreal’s True Match The One in shade Ivory. The coverage is great and really covers up those dark circles and blemishes.

With four pigmented shades, L’Oreal Paris La Vie En Glow Highlighting Palette is a must have addition to anyone’s makeup bag. The colours in the palette are warming on the skin and give you that radiance.

Let’s talk about Iconic London. I have been using the original illuminating drops for about three years now and I am still obsessed. You only need a tiny bit and you have cheek bones for days.

Finally, 24h Eyeshadow from Bourjois in shade Beige brings the look together. You know those makeup tutorials we all watch with the inner eye highlight? Look no further! Admittedly, this is a new addition to my makeup bag but I am loving it so far.

You can pick these products up anywhere – on the high street, on Amazon and on Ebay brand new. If you want that long lasting glowy look, I can say that I have tried and tested them all and that my daily makeup routine is easy, gorgeous and most importantly affordable. ✨

No Makeup Makeup

On my no makeup days I wanted to share with you guys what I use to get that no makeup makeup look. It’s only four products and it’s the perfect look for the warmer weather and when you just can’t be bothered to do a full face (which is me every day really!)

Maybelline Face Studio Illuminating Primer

Maybelline New York Master Blush – shade Heat

L’Oreal True Match Concealer – shade Ivory

L’Oreal Paris Rouge Signature – 110 shade I Empower

Before I apply any make up I always use a moisturiser with SPF and then I put on a primer. Primer is an absolute must if you stand a chance of your makeup lasting all day. There are so many different primers out there and Maybelline have a huge range of them depending on what finish you want. Check out Maybelline’s range on their website.

Concealer is something I always carry with me. L’Oreal’s True Match is one of my favourite high street concealers. I always buy a concealer that is a few shades lighter than my skin colour. I apply it in a triangle under the eye and in any places where there is redness or a blemish. Instantly makes you look more awake before you have had your morning coffee.

I really liked this pinky shade of blush by Maybelline for a no makeup look to add a pop of colour. It brightens up your complexion and again, makes you look a bit more alive in those mornings when you want to hit that snooze button.

Finally, my favourite product I have found so far this month is the L’Oreal Paris Rouge Signature lip colour in shade I Empower. I saw Lydia Millen review this on her YouTube channel and just had to get it. It feels amazing and soft when applied and has good staying power. There is a range of beautiful shades so check them out on the L’Oreal website.

All of these products are super affordable, new in stock and are must haves for the spring. Again, all these recommendations are not ads with brands.

Featured #1

Since starting my blogging journey I have been spending a lot of time creating my own content, telling my story and writing about what I love. In addition to this, I have also been really inspired by other bloggers and their content.

With that being said, I want to write a featured blog once a month showcasing bloggers and Instagram accounts that I am loving at the moment. These ladies all have their own stories and their content is just beautiful. From fashion to beauty, lifestyle to travel, interiors to make up – I wanted to share their stories with you because they are really worth reading about. Please use the links to follow their blogs and Insta pages.

Name: Sarah Jane Hitchings
Age: 34
How long have you had @cotswoldscottage for?
I’ve had my home account for just over a month, started 08.02.19 (I’ve been on insta personally for a few years).
Why did you decided to start the account?
I was following lots of home accounts and find interiors really interesting. I’m proud of my home and thought if I shared it I would inspire more to make more changes and be bolder.
Top 3 tips
1. Research similar accounts and look at what hashtags they use
2. Comment on posts you like as often as possible. It’s lovely to receive a comment on your post.
3. Take a few photos at different angles to get the right one for the post. Then leave them in your camera roll for another time.

How long have you had @myunsecretmumdiary for?
About 18 months.
Why did you decided to start the account?
I decided to go into blogging because I wanted to share my struggles with depression initially, then when time passed and I became pregnant and happier I wanted to share my mum-to-be style. Now it’s mainly about the fashion because it’s my first love (but I still to and fro from mental health because it’s a struggle for me and very much important to me).
Top 3 tips
1. Patience, seriously. It doesn’t happen overnight. And it’s OK if you take a few breaks here and there, just cut yourself some slack and come back to it when you’re ready.
2.  Stay true to you- it’s not rewarding if you don’t do you. You can’t post about things you don’t believe in. Style is individual so post about the styles and subjects you really love, and nothing else! That’s what makes it uplifting.
3. Know what’s good and bad for you. It’s a learning curve. It’s all well and good following thousands of people but you want those people to really be other bloggers you believe in and enjoy following. Following a load of people that make you feel bad about yourself (through no fault of their own) because they give you major life envy or amplify personal insecurities can be addictive but it’s not good for you mentally. Focus on the people that make you feel good!

Name: Kate
How long have you had @kandid_withak for?
I took an interest in photography 4/5 years ago, but just started blog recently – been a goal to start travel blog for a while now and finally had the opportunity to do so, with a bit of encouragement from a good friend!
Why did you decided to start the account?
I enjoy taking pictures and love writing. A few friends had been asking me for travel tips for various places across the globe so thought it would be a great idea to write a blog that can help others with their travels. I also found many travel blogs useful in finding hidden secrets of a destination and all the best cafes.
Top 3 tips
1. Plan your time effectively to fit around your normal working hours – stay organised.
2. Focus on area that you have a real passion for and make this come across in your writing.
3. Just do it! Don’t be afraid of other people’s opinions – if you enjoy it, then that is all that matters. Just dive in at the deep end!

How long have you had @erin_angela_xo for?
I have been blogging for for approximately two and a half years. I began my blog in the summer of 2016.
Why did you decided to start the account?
I’ve always loved makeup and fashion. I regularly read blogs and magazines such as Cosmopolitan and Vogue, which inspired me to start researching blogging. I decided to begin my blog as a way to share my own makeup tips, product reviews and makeup tutorials.
Top 3 tips
1. Identify your niche. Will you blog about beauty, home decor or fashion? Identifying your niche early in your blogging journey is a great way to get started.
2. Don’t give up – Blogging takes time and effort. It can become frustrating when you first start blogging, but it becomes easier with time and practice!
3. An editorial calendar is a lifesaver – About a week after I started my blog, I developed an editorial calendar to identify when and what to post. An editorial calendar not only kept my content organized, but it was a helpful tool to keep my ideas and inspiration flowing.

How long have you had @abigailkathleenlondon for?
3 years
Why did you decided to start the account?
I started blogging when I was severely depressed, I had read a magazine about mental health bloggers and a friend of mine Tanya is also a blogger. I decided to set up my own London lifestyle blog as a distraction, to keep me busy and creative. I fell in love with creating content, it allowed me to continue my photography as more than a hobby.
Top 3 tips
1. You don’t need flashy laptops and cameras. I have run my blog from my phone and iPad. A laptop does make life easier but don’t feel you need to spend a fortune on one.
2. Everything you need to know is free on Google and YouTube such as photo editing and SEO. I am always reading new articles about SEO through Google on my bus journeys.
3. Do not focus on what others are doing. Spend more time on creating content you love and the numbers and opportunities will eventually follow but be patient! Nothing happens overnight. I didn’t get my first opportunity until I had been blogging for 7 months. At the end of every post have a unique sign off and a little sentence to encourage readers to hit that follow button and a link to follow you on your preferred social platform (IG, FB etc)

Blogging is a community and a great platform to connect with new people. I am so glad to have found these women and hopefully sharing their stories has inspired you as much as it has me.

Go-To Beauty

It was only when I turned 24 that I really started to care about what make up I was using. As a student at University it was a lot of fake eye lashes, bad eyebrows, foundation that was far too dark for your complexion, the winged eyeliner that I could never do equally on both eyes and that shiny forehead that would always make an appearance after a night of dancing and drinking.

Now at the ripe *old* age of 28 I enjoy finding new products and brands, testing them out and spending a little bit more for better quality.

IMG_0264

These are my go-to beauty products right now:

ICONIC LONDON’S illuminators – in my opinion, these are the best liquid highlighters out there. Just a dab on the cheek can give you that gorgeous glow. Shades in photograph are champagne shimmer and pink pearl.

L’Oreal Volume Millions Lashes Feline – I love trying out new mascaras. The wand says a lot about how it will apply. This is one of the easiest mascaras I have used to get a curl, volume and no clumps.

Soap and Glory One Heck of a Blot Perfecting Primer – life changing. My make up stays on all day and I don’t need to reapply. It is silky smooth on the skin and gives it a perfect base.

Maybelline Color Sensational Lip Liner in shade Velvet Beige – it had been a long time since I had worn lip liner but I saw Emma Louise Connolly do an Insta story with this and absolutely loved the colour. I use it as a base on my lips and it keeps any lipstick on longer. I bought three – you know, just incase it is discontinued…

Bourjois Rouge Edition Velvet in Shade 17 – perfect for every day wear. Gorgeous pinky nude colour and feels so velvety and soft on the lips.

L’Oreal Bonjour Nudista Awakening Skin Tint in medium – I mix this with my moisturiser for a base before blush and bronzer.

No 7 Instant Illusions Rapid Radiance Balm – for those no make up days, this is perfect. It is light weight and more like a tinted moisturiser.

L’Oreal Le Blush in shade peach – pop of colour for spring with this gorgeous blush.

Make up bag is by Lily England. Couldn’t resist the marble print and rose gold accents! So beautiful.

Those are go-to beauty products right now! It chops and changes every now and again so if this blog is something you’re interested in then watch this space for more content similar. I have to admit that my make up drawer does need some TLC…where is Marie Kondo when you need her?

May your day be as flawless as your make up.

*I am recommending these products because I want to. I have not been asked to by brands*
