October Favourites

Good morning and happy half term. I feel like I say this every month but as if it is the end of October already! Here are my October favourites πŸ’« *some products have been gifted and some links are affiliate links

First up is the Dermalogica Daily Microfiliant. This has been my go-to exfoliator for the past year or so. As I work with Dermalogica, I am extremely lucky to have received this as pr but have also purchased in-between being gifted it. I use this every day and it is a fantastic gentle exfoliator which leaves your skin feeling smooth and squeaky clean. One of my favourites!

*all aff links Here are a couple of makeup bits I have enjoyed using this month. I have talked about the Glow Cherie base layer I use before but I picked it up in a darker shade this month. I only use a little bit as I mix it in with a moisturiser before applying. You can shop it here: https://amzn.to/3CqVG3K I love a dewy finish so I picked up this setting spray again from NYX. This is the third time I have bought this and it really gives you that glow. If you want to buy, here is a link https://amzn.to/3jHXNJc Finally, this Burt’s Bees lip balm is perfect over lipstick or also just on its own. It smells incredible and I just love their lip balms 🌿 https://amzn.to/3nD3qtf

I wanted to mention a few interiors brands I have been loving recently over on Instagram.

Cedar & South have the most beautiful pieces and I will be bringing you all something really exciting in collaboration with Jennie over on my Instagram in the next week or so. Here is their website: https://cedarandsouth.co.uk/ *image taken from website

House of Neutrals is another stunning brand I discovered recently and they have the best selection of pillows. If you love neutral tones, then you need to check their products out 🀍 https://www.houseofneutrals.com/ *image taken from website

I recently bought some new pieces from Scandi Minimal and was so pleased with my purchases. They have such a great selection of products from homeware to children’s items. Here is the link to their website to have a browse https://www.scandiminimal.com/ *image taken from website

And that is it for this month! October has flown by and I honestly cannot believe we are almost in November. I don’t know about you but I have been a little slower thinking about Christmas this year – that isn’t to say I haven’t been pinning ideas like mad! I will be writing a whole blog post all about what we are planning on doing this year with our decor, our tree and little hacks to save money so keep your eyes peeled for that.

Have a lovely day and take care.

September Favourites

As if it is the end of September already – where has the time gone? Here’s your September blog post featuring some of my favourite things for this month. There are a mixture of beauty, skincare, fashion & home bits. *contains pr items and some aff links

First up are two new makeup favourites. I wanted a really lovely nude lipstick for autumn/winter and I found this one from Rimmel called ‘I Dare You’ πŸ’„ It is shade 720 and it is the easiest lipstick to apply which actually lasts! It is a bargain price under Β£3 & I’ve linked it here for you – https://amzn.to/3o9UCNE *aff link. This bronzer palette from Makeup Revolution is also a new addition to my makeup bag this season. It is very pigmented so you don’t need to apply too much to get that all over bronzed look and I love it for this time of year – https://amzn.to/3AIUOa1 *aff link.

Next up are two products I have been using in my skincare routine which were kindly sent to me from Dermalogica (pr products). I have talked about the ‘Biolumin-C Gel Moisturizer’ before but I wanted to mention it again this month because it has been such a staple in my morning routine. I use it every day – sometimes with a pump of CC cream and it really is the most perfect product for that glowy skin. The ‘Daily Glycolic Cleanser’ is a brightening and conditioning cleanser that renews dull, uneven skin tone and helps remove buildup on your skin. I have only been using this for about four days as a new cleanser but so far I love it. I will report back next month with how I have been finding it.

Slippers! Who doesn’t love a pair of cosy slippers in autumn/winter? I shared a picture on my Instagram stories featuring these slippers and so many of you messaged me so I have popped a link to them here – https://amzn.to/3CKWU9U *aff link.

I have been on the hunt for some things to add to our home to make it feel more cosy for autumn. If you follow me on Instagram, you’ll have seen our finished master bedroom with pops of blue and lots of wicker baskets! Our chest of drawers and bedside cabinets are from Cotswold Co and we love them so much. They are so well made and look perfect in this room. All of the items in this picture are tagged over on my Instagram which is linked on my home page.

Filling my home with different scents at different times of year is something I always look forward to doing. I am so excited to be working with Smellacloud this month who offer diffusers and a range of oils for your home. Keep an eye on my Instagram feed for more details coming soon where all items will be tagged too.

Finally for this September favourites blog, I had to show you guys this beautiful mug I bought from Home Addition. How perfect is this for autumn? I don’t think I need to say much more…πŸŽƒ

I hope that you all have a lovely autumnal Sunday and I will catch up with you all soon.

Lots of love,

Rebecca 🀎

A Milestone

Good evening guys. I hope that you all had a lovely Sunday. Today has been a pretty quiet one for me at home and whilst I’ve been enjoying some peace and quiet, I have also reached what you might call a ‘social media milestone’.

About two and a half years ago I started this blog as a form of therapy. At the time I didn’t realise that was what it was but it was what got me through having to cancel my wedding and a broken engagement. I will never forget the first message I received from a reader who was going through the same thing as me and with that I started my Instagram account. I wanted to share my story and to share my passion and love for fashion. Fast forward to now and I can’t quite believe that there are 10,000 of you who have hit that follow button πŸ’•

Thank you for all of your support over the years. I can’t wait to share more of my journey with you.

Autumn Styling – Bags & Blazers

Morning guys and the sun is shining! β˜€οΈ My washing is on the line, I am on iced coffee number two and ‘Changing Rooms’ is on in the background. I promised you all over on my Instagram that I would do a series of autumn styling blog posts this season so here is the first one. This post is all about the staple black blazer and your brown and black handbags. Pairing them with dresses or items you already own is so easy for autumn.

Some items in this blog post are pr products and will be shown with a *

This black blazer was an eBay find and is a never worn Karen Millen tailored number. It’s such a classic piece for the autumn/winter wardrobe and there are always so many out there on the high street to choose from. I paid less than Β£10 including postage for this bargain and it is perfect. I have also ordered an oversized black shacket which I will feature in another styling post or over on my Instagram and for me, the blazer and shacket are enough in my opinion for a colder season wardrobe. This bag is from a gorgeous brand called Fenella Smith London* and it is a great transitional piece from day to night. On the left, this black and white shirt dress is a very recent purchase from the Warehouse sale and the dress on the right is a navy blue print M&S dress. They are both midi length and also have long sleeves.

Still featuring the bag are these two outfits. On the left is another M&S dress which again is a midi length but with shorter sleeves and on the right is this beautiful Warehouse dress. All of these dresses (and many more in my wardrobe) look great with this black blazer and bag from Fenella Smith London and I can’t wait to start wearing these outfits in the coming weeks.

These two autumnal outfits feature the Fitzwilliam bag from Fairfax & Favor*. This has been such a staple piece for me even throughout summer and looks great with all outfits. Both of these dresses are from Crew Clothing* and look perfect styled up with the brown leather and suede bag.

You don’t need to buy a lot of new items for seasonal styling. I have invested in classic pieces for this year which I know will work with items I already own. I have told myself to not buy another floral dress this season and instead be on the look out for neutrals and blacks. This way I can wear some of the more transitional dresses I own all year round with the right jacket and accessories.

Have a great sunny Thursday 🀍

A Timeless Wardrobe – Dress Edition

Good afternoon and what a rainy Sunday it is! 🌧️ My garden is certainly enjoying this rain however I am not and just want to wear some of the summer dresses I am going to mention in my blog post today.

I asked over on my Instagram what you wanted to read next on the blog and it was a toss up between this blog post and one all about garden party dresses. I thought that garden parties could wait seeing as this weather isn’t bringing the summer vibes! Therefore, here it is – how to create a timeless wardrobe when picking dresses. I’m going to give you some tips when choosing the right dress and talk about how I select mine. *This post contains PR products and all dresses are tagged over on my Instagram.

My dress collection is what you can see on the left in the image above. It used to be larger but I found I was just wearing the same items over and over again and I much preferred to do that. I am extremely fortunate to have worked with a number of brands like Oliver Bonas, Crew Clothing and Phase Eight where I receive items and in turn, take photographs for you guys and show you how I style the pieces up. But how do you create that timeless collection?

It has taken me years to get my dresses right but I finally started to pick pieces that work with my body shape and height. I am only 5″3 and have a long torso rather than long legs. Therefore, a midi dress is way more flattering on me than a mini. I also can’t just eat anything anymore and not see it appear somewhere on my body so I think about the areas I prefer to cover up and for me that’s my tummy and my arms. Instead, I am quite busty so I tend to accentuate that area with the style of dress I choose – a cinched-in-waist or elasticated bust works really well for me πŸ“·

Colours and prints are something to be really mindful of. I have always been a ditsy print kind of girl and in my wardrobe I have a whole heap of different coloured dresses from reds and purples to blacks and pinks. My go-to colours are blues and greens as they complement my accessories more. I have one trench coat which is a print and I would wear that with all of my dresses, regardless of clashing prints. My shoes and trainers are extremely minimalistic and can be worn with anything too.

Less is more. I am extremely conscious of the amount of dresses I accumulate. Like I mentioned before, I am very lucky to work with brands as part of my content creation. In the past, I have turned down partnerships and collaborations if it wasn’t something I would wear over and over again. Yes, I post midi dresses over on my Instagram account but it isn’t realistic to have a new dress every other day! Who has the money for that? πŸ’° For me, to create that timeless collection, you need to be really sure about a piece – invest in longer term items rather than fast fashion.

It took me a while and only now at the age of 30 do I feel confident and comfortable in my wardrobe. I also choose my dresses thinking about all seasons and qill only pick it if I can see myself wearing it in every kind of weather. Can I style it up with boots aswell as sneakers? Will it work with a jumper layered over the top or a chunky knit?

Finally, I’m less influenced by others’ choices and happier in what I already have and I think that is key to creating a timeless collection. Don’t get me wrong, I am the first to put my hand up and admit to having done this A LOT in the past but I guess my priorities are different now and I’ve been gardening and styling my home. Fashion has taken a bit of a back seat and I’m more than OK with that.

Whilst I give this advice, I’m no expert and honestly, like I said, it has taken me years to get to this point with my wardrobe and I would still reassess some of my choices even now. I still don’t own a little black dress! Creating a timeless dress collection is a journey. Enjoy it – dress for your body shape, choose colours and prints you love, pick versatile pieces and enjoy what you have!

Happy Sunday guys x

June Favourites (Home Edition)

Happy Sunday everyone and I hope that you are well. I always find that the only time I can really sit down and write my blog posts is a Sunday morning whilst in bed with a coffee. Time is just running away…it will be Christmas before we know it. It’s time for a monthly favourites blog and this month it’s all about home products so let’s get into it.

As mentioned in previous interiors blogs, I always like to make my home smell nice. I recently picked up some new cleaning products which have really brought summer into the house.

Let’s talk about Zoflora. Who else is a fan? This lavendar scent is perfect for the summer and I like to pour two caps of it into the kitchen sink and flush it through with hot water. Some other favourite summer Zoflora scents are ‘Linen Fresh’ and ‘Bouquet’. My favourite plug-in at the moment is the Pink Sweet Pea one from Air Wick Essential Oils. I ordered them in bulk from Amazon and I have one in the hallway and one in the kitchen/living space. Finally, the ‘Summer Breeze’ scent boosters from Lenor make your washing smell absolutely amazing. I have also ordered some other scents too and I can’t wait to do some washing 🀣

H&M Home is always my go-to and this month I have picked up a few bits for when we finish the bedroom. Their oak photo frames are so great and such good value for money and I ordered a few of these ready for some new art work which will be going up soon. I also picked up this cute birch wood hanger which I am hoping to hang my jewellery from. I have a stand at the moment but let me tell you, I am sick of dusting it! Finally, these linen cushion covers are such great quality and are excellent fillers in our living room.

Perhaps not everyone’s cup of tea for this monthly favourites blog but I have been cheating on fashion with gardening and home interiors recently. Head on over to my Instagram to see the garden reveal!

Have a great Sunday.

My Interior Style (Part II)

Good morning and happy Sunday! Today is set to be a scorcher so it’s the perfect weather to get out in the garden and cool off with a few G&T’s. I promised that I would write another blog post once our living space was finished and I am so excited to say that it is. *Contains pr products

As mentioned in the first part of this series of blogs, I love a mixture of modern interiors and more rustic/farmhouse. Our house is extremely modern in its architecture and so I was always mindful of this when picking pieces for our home.

The main thing that is different in the room is that we now have curtains! Hallelujah! I can’t believe how much the curtains really do bring it all together and make it feel more cosy and homely. If you head on over to my Instagram, you can see more snaps of the curtains. We got them made to measure in a gorgeous heavy linen fabric in a pencil pleat style and we love them so much. Other bits and bobs which I have purchased are some new tea towels from H&M Home. Now, I love my William Morris tea towels but there’s something about a classic stripe that just always looks so great in a kitchen.

I picked up a few new vases from a local antique barn (best places ever!) and I worked with Fy! and Sophie Allport on a few finishing touches. This print is from Fy! and the gorgeous ‘Home Grown’ range apron and mug are from the fabulous Sophie Allport – you can find discount codes on my Instagram page. *Bunch of peonies from Haute Florist (PR)

It is so lovely to have a finished living space. Now to tackle the master bedroom…

Have a lovely Sunday x

May Favourites

Good morning everyone and happy Friday! I’m sorry that my monthly favourites blog is coming out a few days late. It’s been a busy half term and I am finally getting some time to write this blog post so without further ado, let’s get into this months favourites. *This blog post contains gifted items.

Let’s talk beauty and skincare. First up, a trusty favourite from No 7 – the skin illuminator. Now the weather is getting warmer, I try to wear less makeup on my skin and this is perfect for that light coverage. I use the Simple booster drops with SPF 30 first and then pop this over the top. The two products together give you a gorgeous glow whilst protecting your skin from UV rays. As part of my summer makeup routine, I also like to use the Burts Bees All Aglow. It is THE only bronzer I use in the summer months – it isn’t drying or cakey and just adds that bit of extra warmth to your complexion.

Next up is this gorgeous Barry M nail varnish. I absolutely love a dark red toe nail in the summer months and this was just what I was looking for. This is the shade ‘French Rose’ and they have a few other gorgeous pinky tones in their ‘Rose Tinted’ range.

Last up for this month’s skincare favourites is the Typology charcoal mask with organic nettle *gifted/pr. I have been a huge fan of Typology for a while and have mentioned them in a few of my blogs. This mask is refreshing, thick and leaves my skin feeling so clean and replenished. Active ingredients are stinging nettle, green clay and pine charcoal. I love how organic and natural this skincare brand is – definitely one to check out!

I wanted to mention a pair of trainers I was kindly gifted by Gabor – these are their Wilma design and they are so versatile. In one of my recent blogs about dresses and sneakers, I talked about how I always struggled with what to wear on my feet in the spring months. Now, I always turn to a gorgeous pair of trainers. Check out that blog post here.

Finally, these gorgeous blue striped cushions from Lavendar Coast Interiors had to be featured in my monthly favourites blog. Click here for their Instagram. I was extremely lucky to work with this beautiful interiors company recently over on my Instagram page. I ran a giveaway where someone could win their own Portscatho and Portloe cushions. Unfortunately, these are both sold out now but keep an eye on what is next to come from this amazing country and coastal interiors brand.

I hope you all have a great weekend and sending lots of love.

Feed of Change

Good evening everyone. For those of you who follow me on Instagram, you will know that I am making a lot of changes to my feed and what I share with you all. Some of you who follow me here may never have seen my Instagram. If you would like to follow me over there too, then my account can be found below or on my home page. I thought I would just make it really black and white and put together a little blog post about what exactly will be changing and the reasons why.Β

I have been thinking about changing up the aesthetic on my feed for a while now and was really worried how it would be received. I guess I was worried because every day when I see I have over 5,600 followers I still can’t believe it. The thought of thousands of you who followed me for a reason not being happy with what I am deciding to do now is a bit daunting.Β πŸ˜‚

I will be continuing to chat to you on stories and share little bits of my life over on there too. I will also continue to share my favourite posts for my fashion hashtag #sundaysstyledinspo each Sunday. The way I share accounts on a daily basis will be a little different from now on and I will also be sharing more Pinterest boards with you guys for interiors and styling inspiration. Pinning ideas is something I love…lusting over all the gorgeous interiors and wishing I had the wardrobe of dreams so why not share them with you?

Over on my feed I will share interiors posts, style posts and a couple of lifestyle posts each week. I will of course continue to work with brands I am passionate about and I have a lot of giveaways coming up which you will all LOVE. I am trying to post a certain theme on a particular day but I will just have to see how this works. You will be seeing less of my face on my feed as I move away from #selfies and upload more uniformed styling posts alongside the other types of posts I have already mentioned.

These changes are happening solely for me. I want to put more thought into what I want to be sharing with you all. Even though my face may not make a regular appearance, my squares are not any less personal. These changes are not happening because of any other reason than I feel like a change needs to happen and now is the right time.

I am really excited about it all and planning my feed for the next two weeks has really given me so much joy – something I feel like I had lost on this platform recently.

Thank you so much for all of your kind messages and lovely DMs – my favourite bit about this funny little app.

How My Style Has Evolved

Good morning everybody. I hope that you are all well on this dreary Tuesday. The sun has disappeared yet again but I can’t say I am mad about it – I love the heat, but only when I have someone making me cocktails at a swim up bar.

I thought I would write a very simple blog post about how my style has changed and evolved over the past few years. There have been a number of different factors as to why and I wanted to chat about them.

Money. I was always really bad at saving and never thought it was as important as I now realise it is. I was throwing my money away on fast fashion and not really thinking about it. Don’t get me wrong – I still like to buy the occasional piece every now and again but I am a lot more conscious of investing into better quality items than an on-trend dress for one season.

Space. Honestly, it was ridiculous how many things I had that I would never pull out of my wardrobe and decide to wear. I kept picking out the same things over and over again. Now I have 1/2 of a rail for hanging clothes, a drawer for vest tops and tees, a drawer for jeans and trousers/skirts and a draw for jumpers – which is very empty at the moment which we will talk about in the next point. That is it and I am really happy that I have been able to condense my wardrobe down to that amount of space.

Impulse buys. This is a little similar to the first point but honestly my downfall was seeing the price of a jumper in F&F or Tu whilst out shopping and just grabbing it because it made me feel excited about having something new. Bloody jumpers! I have really stopped myself from doing this for the past few months and have thought carefully about my purchases. The three items of clothing I have purchased in the past month are my Jack Wills blazer which was an Ebay find, a cream fine knit jumper from ASOS and a black fine knit jumper from H&M. I bought these knowing that I would be able to wear them with all of the dresses I own, the blazers I have and they are items that won’t date. They may get worn out after a season of wearing and wearing but I am fine with that.

Staple pieces.Β I have always been a fan of prints and ditsy summer dresses. I mean who isn’t? However, it got to that stage where I had so many printed dresses and tops that I didn’t have anything that I could wear with them to transition them into a different season. I have started putting block colour pieces into to my wardrobe so that I can carry my prints through to autumn and winter. I also love to clash prints – over on my Instagram there have been a few styling posts recently where I have paired a red printed dress with a grey check blazer. It can work, you just need to have the right pieces.

Lifestyle. My lifestyle has changed dramatically over the last year. I used to live in the buzzing city of Munich where drinks after work and nights out were the norm.Β  Now, I enjoy the slower pace of life a lot more where those things will still happen but definitely not as often as they used to for me. I also wouldn’t say I have any ‘going out out’ type clothes. I would just wear something from my wardrobe and make it work.

Content Creating.Β Over the past year I have been fortunate enough to work with some beautiful brands who have kindly gifted me a lot of my staple pieces in my wardrobe. This is something I am very grateful for and definitely makes me think longer and harder about whether or not IΒ needΒ something else.

Sorry if this has been a bit of a rambly post but I thought it was quite interesting to share with you all how my style and my attitude towards my style has changed a lot over the past year.

Happy Tuesday again x
