October Favourites

Good morning and happy half term. I feel like I say this every month but as if it is the end of October already! Here are my October favourites 💫 *some products have been gifted and some links are affiliate links

First up is the Dermalogica Daily Microfiliant. This has been my go-to exfoliator for the past year or so. As I work with Dermalogica, I am extremely lucky to have received this as pr but have also purchased in-between being gifted it. I use this every day and it is a fantastic gentle exfoliator which leaves your skin feeling smooth and squeaky clean. One of my favourites!

*all aff links Here are a couple of makeup bits I have enjoyed using this month. I have talked about the Glow Cherie base layer I use before but I picked it up in a darker shade this month. I only use a little bit as I mix it in with a moisturiser before applying. You can shop it here: https://amzn.to/3CqVG3K I love a dewy finish so I picked up this setting spray again from NYX. This is the third time I have bought this and it really gives you that glow. If you want to buy, here is a link https://amzn.to/3jHXNJc Finally, this Burt’s Bees lip balm is perfect over lipstick or also just on its own. It smells incredible and I just love their lip balms 🌿 https://amzn.to/3nD3qtf

I wanted to mention a few interiors brands I have been loving recently over on Instagram.

Cedar & South have the most beautiful pieces and I will be bringing you all something really exciting in collaboration with Jennie over on my Instagram in the next week or so. Here is their website: https://cedarandsouth.co.uk/ *image taken from website

House of Neutrals is another stunning brand I discovered recently and they have the best selection of pillows. If you love neutral tones, then you need to check their products out 🤍 https://www.houseofneutrals.com/ *image taken from website

I recently bought some new pieces from Scandi Minimal and was so pleased with my purchases. They have such a great selection of products from homeware to children’s items. Here is the link to their website to have a browse https://www.scandiminimal.com/ *image taken from website

And that is it for this month! October has flown by and I honestly cannot believe we are almost in November. I don’t know about you but I have been a little slower thinking about Christmas this year – that isn’t to say I haven’t been pinning ideas like mad! I will be writing a whole blog post all about what we are planning on doing this year with our decor, our tree and little hacks to save money so keep your eyes peeled for that.

Have a lovely day and take care.

September Favourites

As if it is the end of September already – where has the time gone? Here’s your September blog post featuring some of my favourite things for this month. There are a mixture of beauty, skincare, fashion & home bits. *contains pr items and some aff links

First up are two new makeup favourites. I wanted a really lovely nude lipstick for autumn/winter and I found this one from Rimmel called ‘I Dare You’ 💄 It is shade 720 and it is the easiest lipstick to apply which actually lasts! It is a bargain price under £3 & I’ve linked it here for you – https://amzn.to/3o9UCNE *aff link. This bronzer palette from Makeup Revolution is also a new addition to my makeup bag this season. It is very pigmented so you don’t need to apply too much to get that all over bronzed look and I love it for this time of year – https://amzn.to/3AIUOa1 *aff link.

Next up are two products I have been using in my skincare routine which were kindly sent to me from Dermalogica (pr products). I have talked about the ‘Biolumin-C Gel Moisturizer’ before but I wanted to mention it again this month because it has been such a staple in my morning routine. I use it every day – sometimes with a pump of CC cream and it really is the most perfect product for that glowy skin. The ‘Daily Glycolic Cleanser’ is a brightening and conditioning cleanser that renews dull, uneven skin tone and helps remove buildup on your skin. I have only been using this for about four days as a new cleanser but so far I love it. I will report back next month with how I have been finding it.

Slippers! Who doesn’t love a pair of cosy slippers in autumn/winter? I shared a picture on my Instagram stories featuring these slippers and so many of you messaged me so I have popped a link to them here – https://amzn.to/3CKWU9U *aff link.

I have been on the hunt for some things to add to our home to make it feel more cosy for autumn. If you follow me on Instagram, you’ll have seen our finished master bedroom with pops of blue and lots of wicker baskets! Our chest of drawers and bedside cabinets are from Cotswold Co and we love them so much. They are so well made and look perfect in this room. All of the items in this picture are tagged over on my Instagram which is linked on my home page.

Filling my home with different scents at different times of year is something I always look forward to doing. I am so excited to be working with Smellacloud this month who offer diffusers and a range of oils for your home. Keep an eye on my Instagram feed for more details coming soon where all items will be tagged too.

Finally for this September favourites blog, I had to show you guys this beautiful mug I bought from Home Addition. How perfect is this for autumn? I don’t think I need to say much more…🎃

I hope that you all have a lovely autumnal Sunday and I will catch up with you all soon.

Lots of love,

Rebecca 🤎

Autumn Styling – Bags & Blazers

Morning guys and the sun is shining! ☀️ My washing is on the line, I am on iced coffee number two and ‘Changing Rooms’ is on in the background. I promised you all over on my Instagram that I would do a series of autumn styling blog posts this season so here is the first one. This post is all about the staple black blazer and your brown and black handbags. Pairing them with dresses or items you already own is so easy for autumn.

Some items in this blog post are pr products and will be shown with a *

This black blazer was an eBay find and is a never worn Karen Millen tailored number. It’s such a classic piece for the autumn/winter wardrobe and there are always so many out there on the high street to choose from. I paid less than £10 including postage for this bargain and it is perfect. I have also ordered an oversized black shacket which I will feature in another styling post or over on my Instagram and for me, the blazer and shacket are enough in my opinion for a colder season wardrobe. This bag is from a gorgeous brand called Fenella Smith London* and it is a great transitional piece from day to night. On the left, this black and white shirt dress is a very recent purchase from the Warehouse sale and the dress on the right is a navy blue print M&S dress. They are both midi length and also have long sleeves.

Still featuring the bag are these two outfits. On the left is another M&S dress which again is a midi length but with shorter sleeves and on the right is this beautiful Warehouse dress. All of these dresses (and many more in my wardrobe) look great with this black blazer and bag from Fenella Smith London and I can’t wait to start wearing these outfits in the coming weeks.

These two autumnal outfits feature the Fitzwilliam bag from Fairfax & Favor*. This has been such a staple piece for me even throughout summer and looks great with all outfits. Both of these dresses are from Crew Clothing* and look perfect styled up with the brown leather and suede bag.

You don’t need to buy a lot of new items for seasonal styling. I have invested in classic pieces for this year which I know will work with items I already own. I have told myself to not buy another floral dress this season and instead be on the look out for neutrals and blacks. This way I can wear some of the more transitional dresses I own all year round with the right jacket and accessories.

Have a great sunny Thursday 🤍

August Favourites

Good afternoon everyone and happy Wednesday. It’s time for this month’s favourites. I can’t believe how quickly this month has gone. I will be back in the full swing of teaching in no time at all! As always, some items mentioned in this blog post are gifted and will be marked with a *

Let’s start with a couple of beauty products and a new moisturiser from Dermalogica*.

I am not wearing my mask as frequently as I was before my second vaccine so I am now wearing lipstick again! I found this liner and lipstick on Amazon from KIKO for great affordable prices and I love the shades for autumn. This is their ‘Smart Fusion Lipstick’ in shade 405 and the liner is shade 303. The liner is a little darker than the lipstick so you do have to make sure you blend it in with a gloss or a balm. They last well on your lips and I love the darker shade for the colder months to come.

Dermalogica kindly sent me their new product as a #skinfluener and I have been using it for a week or so now. Their new ‘Biolumin C-Gel Moisturizer’ does exactly what it says it does. On the first application, my skin looked radiant, glowing and felt amazing. I mix a drop into my tinted cc serum as part of my daily makeup routine too which gives me that weightless glowy base. I am really going to enjoy using this in autumn to maintain that holiday-like glowing skin.

Over the summer holidays I have really let me nails grow out as during term time I normally completely neglect them! I found some really gorgeous floral stickers on Amazon which you apply using tweezers and seal with a clear topcoat. I always put on a nail strengthener before I do anything else and this helps encourage growth and prevents breakage. I used the cherry blossom stickers for this manicure but there are so many to choose from in the pack I picked up – sunflowers, purple flowers, black and white flowers. It does take a bit of time and patience let me tell you but my nails feel fresh and it’s just a bit of fun.

Next up are some new additions to the master bedroom. I was so lucky to work with two beautiful interiors brands this month – Cotswold Grey* and Champagne & Ginger*. I was gifted this elm stool and blue cashmere throw from Cotswold Grey and then these belly baskets from Champagne & Ginger. They work so well together and make our bedroom feel cosy and ready for the new season.

Finally, I wanted to mention ‘The Midnight Library’ again by Matt Haig. It has been such a joy to read and I couldn’t recommend it more. If you haven’t read it, you need to!

Have a lovely day guys and I’ll be back on the blog next week with an autumn fashion post so turn on email notifications if you don’t want to miss that.

June Favourites (Home Edition)

Happy Sunday everyone and I hope that you are well. I always find that the only time I can really sit down and write my blog posts is a Sunday morning whilst in bed with a coffee. Time is just running away…it will be Christmas before we know it. It’s time for a monthly favourites blog and this month it’s all about home products so let’s get into it.

As mentioned in previous interiors blogs, I always like to make my home smell nice. I recently picked up some new cleaning products which have really brought summer into the house.

Let’s talk about Zoflora. Who else is a fan? This lavendar scent is perfect for the summer and I like to pour two caps of it into the kitchen sink and flush it through with hot water. Some other favourite summer Zoflora scents are ‘Linen Fresh’ and ‘Bouquet’. My favourite plug-in at the moment is the Pink Sweet Pea one from Air Wick Essential Oils. I ordered them in bulk from Amazon and I have one in the hallway and one in the kitchen/living space. Finally, the ‘Summer Breeze’ scent boosters from Lenor make your washing smell absolutely amazing. I have also ordered some other scents too and I can’t wait to do some washing 🤣

H&M Home is always my go-to and this month I have picked up a few bits for when we finish the bedroom. Their oak photo frames are so great and such good value for money and I ordered a few of these ready for some new art work which will be going up soon. I also picked up this cute birch wood hanger which I am hoping to hang my jewellery from. I have a stand at the moment but let me tell you, I am sick of dusting it! Finally, these linen cushion covers are such great quality and are excellent fillers in our living room.

Perhaps not everyone’s cup of tea for this monthly favourites blog but I have been cheating on fashion with gardening and home interiors recently. Head on over to my Instagram to see the garden reveal!

Have a great Sunday.

May Favourites

Good morning everyone and happy Friday! I’m sorry that my monthly favourites blog is coming out a few days late. It’s been a busy half term and I am finally getting some time to write this blog post so without further ado, let’s get into this months favourites. *This blog post contains gifted items.

Let’s talk beauty and skincare. First up, a trusty favourite from No 7 – the skin illuminator. Now the weather is getting warmer, I try to wear less makeup on my skin and this is perfect for that light coverage. I use the Simple booster drops with SPF 30 first and then pop this over the top. The two products together give you a gorgeous glow whilst protecting your skin from UV rays. As part of my summer makeup routine, I also like to use the Burts Bees All Aglow. It is THE only bronzer I use in the summer months – it isn’t drying or cakey and just adds that bit of extra warmth to your complexion.

Next up is this gorgeous Barry M nail varnish. I absolutely love a dark red toe nail in the summer months and this was just what I was looking for. This is the shade ‘French Rose’ and they have a few other gorgeous pinky tones in their ‘Rose Tinted’ range.

Last up for this month’s skincare favourites is the Typology charcoal mask with organic nettle *gifted/pr. I have been a huge fan of Typology for a while and have mentioned them in a few of my blogs. This mask is refreshing, thick and leaves my skin feeling so clean and replenished. Active ingredients are stinging nettle, green clay and pine charcoal. I love how organic and natural this skincare brand is – definitely one to check out!

I wanted to mention a pair of trainers I was kindly gifted by Gabor – these are their Wilma design and they are so versatile. In one of my recent blogs about dresses and sneakers, I talked about how I always struggled with what to wear on my feet in the spring months. Now, I always turn to a gorgeous pair of trainers. Check out that blog post here.

Finally, these gorgeous blue striped cushions from Lavendar Coast Interiors had to be featured in my monthly favourites blog. Click here for their Instagram. I was extremely lucky to work with this beautiful interiors company recently over on my Instagram page. I ran a giveaway where someone could win their own Portscatho and Portloe cushions. Unfortunately, these are both sold out now but keep an eye on what is next to come from this amazing country and coastal interiors brand.

I hope you all have a great weekend and sending lots of love.

My Interior Style (Part I)

Good morning everyone and happy Easter weekend! I have been meaning to update my blog for a while now but the life of a full time primary school teacher is pretty hectic so I have finally found some time to write a blog post for you all.

Over on my Instagram I know I have a mixture of followers – some who prefer my style content and others who like the home interiors posts. If you fall into the home styling category, then this one is for you. This blog post is part of a series as not all of the rooms in our home are quite finished yet so make sure you hit the ‘follow’ button on my home page to keep up to date with blog posts.

The story behind my first home is pretty simple really. I moved in with Mr RV last year during lockdown, never moved out and decided to buy half of his house (we also adopted a cat which wasn’t in the plan but we love him!) Our home is in a great location in Cheltenham and the space is just about big enough for the both of us at the moment. I wrote a blog post all about buying my first home which you can read here. Styling our home has been a process and to be honest, I have made some pretty big mistakes a long the way – bad furniture choices, decorating a room at a time rather than thinking about the whole home and many wall art mishaps. Finally, I can say that our home works and we both love it.

My interior style can be described as farmhouse/rustic meets modern. We live in an extremely modern home with bifold doors into our garden and high ceilings in our open plan kitchen, dining and living room. I get asked all the time about our home and what it is like. It is all on one level and we have two bedrooms, one bathroom, one toilet room and an open plan kitchen/diner/living space. Our garden is south facing and is a decent size.

I have always loved country interiors but I never felt confident about styling a modern space in that way. I lust over beautiful country homes – the fabrics, the furniture and the accessories. I didn’t want to decorate in a completely modern way. In the pictures above you can see our finished living space. William Morris had to of course feature somewhere in our home and in a subtle way. Our table and chairs were actually something Mr RV bought before we became joint home owners but we love this Scandinavian design mixed with country style accessories.

The sofas were a big decision and one knew we had to make. We only had one sofa before and we wanted to be able to seat guests and enjoy people’s company that wasn’t around a dining table. Accessorizing the sofas took a while too with choosing the correct colour palette. I stumbled across the dark green cushions in Homesense one day, got my sofa swatch out and took the plunge. The striped cushions are from Vinegar Hill and we have a few other scatter cushions in other green tones on the smaller sofas. The rug was also a lucky Homesense buy. We knew we didn’t want something too bright and colourful and when we saw this we took it home – no measuring was involved! Like I said, a lucky find. Finally, the TV unit was from Argos and the step stool is IKEA.

The smaller details are the ones that I have made numerous mistakes with. It brings me so much joy to finally know this space is finished with regards to decorating. Touches of terracotta from Burford Garden Centre, H&M Home and The English Potted Plant Company give the space that more rustic look alongside the rattan and the wicker trays. House plants, prints (the bee print is from Annie Dornin-Smith), interiors books and candles also make the space warmer and make it feel more lived in. I have been adding in touches of blue in ceramics recently – a decision I was a little hesitant about doing but I love it.

What am I waiting for? There a few things left for this space like a vintage blue ceramic fruit bowl to replace a gold wired basket which will live on our worktops & a beautiful botanical print and frame from Etsy. Eventually we want to get perfect fit venetian blinds on our windows to finish the space completely.

And that is it – the living room/dining room/kitchen reveal! Like I said, this blog post is part of a series so the next one will be the bedroom reveal.

If you have any questions about any of the items above just leave a comment or head on over to my Instagram where all items are tagged.

Have a lovely weekend. X

February Favourites

Good afternoon guys and welcome to another monthly favourites. I can’t quite believe we are in the middle of February! So without further ado, let’s get on with this month’s favourites.

Let’s kick things off with skincare beauty products.

Since we entered into the third lockdown, I have been experimenting with manicures. I really like to do colourful tips (I do use nail stickers to help with the lines) and these two shades from Barry M – ‘Lavendar’ and ‘Pistachio’ have been firm favourites for February. I have ordered a few new shades including ‘Banana Split’ and ‘Cotton’ from Barry M. I have also been using this Burt’s Bees Cuticle Cream for ages now! It lasts and lasts and just feels so great after a manicure.

A new product I have been using instead of concealer is the Origins Refreshing Eye Cream To Brighten And Depuff. I am not normally one to go out of the house without concealer but this has been such a great replacement. It doesn’t give you much coverage but it certainly brightens. As a #skinfluencer with Dermalogica, I am extremely lucky to receive products from them every now and again so when this arrived I got a little bit excited! As always, there is no obligation to talk about their products or to do reviews but this Neck & Contour Serum is great. I have linked the product here for you to read about. (Not an affiliate link) I have been using it for about three weeks now and I love it. Sticking with skincare, I have starting using reusable cotton pads. If you haven’t switched yet then what are you waiting for?

With regards to makeup, there isn’t much new but at the moment I am wearing this combination on my lips all the time – Maybelline Color Sensational Shaping Lip Liner 150 Stellar Pink and the Ascot Dianthis Lip Gloss from & Other Stories. So pretty!

Next up are a few little interiors bits and bobs I have picked up recently. If you follow me over on Instagram you will know that I love William Morris prints. I saw these tea towels and knew they needed a place in our kitchen. I found them on Amazon and they do so many different designs.

This rattan tray is also from Amazon but when it sold out I bought another from Ebay. I do prefer this one as it is darker and a bit bigger than my other one. Such a lovely addition to the centre of our dining table where normally, there is a vase full of flowers on it.

I just want to finish this blog off by mentioning a couple of small businesses.

In my last blog I linked you to Petal Head’s website and I’m going to do it again! I recently asked Alex to design a dry bouquet for me and she has been so accommodating and so kind. Her prices are very reasonable and she is extremely talented. I can’t wait for my bouquet to come 💐

Annie’s prints are stunning. I found her through an advert on Instagram and had a browse at her gorgeous art work. I ended up going for her British Bees print which will fit in nicely in our living space. Check out her website 🐝

That’s all then guys for February’s favourites. I know it’s a bit early but I am on half term right now so I have the time!

Have a good day x

Turning the big 3 0

When Mr RV received a parcel today for my upcoming ‘big’ birthday, my first thought was how organised he is! Secondly, it occurred to me that I will most likely be at home, in my pajamas with my favourite boys drinking copious amounts of wine and stuffing my face with birthday cake. And I am completely OK with that!

I was doing a bit of online research and I found this this article from Glamour which is a list of 30 things to do before you’re 30 and I thought I would see how many of them I can tick off.

  1. Stop worrying about your age. I think it was really only this year I stopped caring. Before, I was always worrying about doing x and y before turning 30.
  2. Get educated in something you love doing. Over the years I have learnt to play the piano, to sing, to sew, to ski but I would love to pick up more recent interests like interior design and do some online courses.
  3. Face a fear. Does picking up a spider and putting it outside count?
  4. Step out of your comfort zone. I mean, I haven’t really stepped anywhere this year, like most of us! Over the past couple of years I have certainly done things I never thought I would have, like living abroad, writing a blog and skiing.
  5. Take on a physical challenge. Well, lockdown certainly helped me with this. Back in the spring I managed to run my first 5k and I was even running that distance three times a week in 22 minutes. Now, I just eat mince pies and binge watch The Crown.
  6. Go on a blind date. I have never been on a blind date but a Tinder date yes. Look how well that turned out! 💖
  7. Experience culture shock. Oh yes! I definitely got a bit of a shock moving to Germany for two years. I embraced the culture whilst living there but honestly, I don’t ever want to see a stein or dirndl again. The quieter way of life is most definitely for me.
  8. Begin journaling. I started my blog!
  9. Do some self-reflection. There has been plenty of that this year.
  10. Overcome heartbreak. Tick.
  11. Get your adrenaline pumping. Learning to ski was terrifying and I had a few meltdowns on the side of several mountains.
  12. Create something. I certainly don’t use my creative side as much as I used to. I used to write songs all the time and record them. I think something called life just gets in the way sometimes.
  13. Fail at something. My first driving test. 👍
  14. Break a bad habit. I have cut out plenty of these and feel great for it!
  15. Take up an unusual hobby. I can’t say I have done this but I did randomly try rock climbing for a while and enjoyed that.
  16. Get a complete makeover. My hair has been black, brown, blonde and back to brown! I have had short hair, a fringe, overplucked eyebrows, slugs for eyebrows. Long gone are the days of drastic changes guys.
  17. Fight for something you’re passionate about. I definitely need to be a better human being and act upon this.
  18. Live overseas. Living in Munich was such an incredible experience. I met amazing people and have some great memories.
  19. Read a life-changing book. I have to admit, I am not a reader. This is one of my New Year’s Resolutions. Any good book recommendations are welcome!
  20. Slum it. Again, I haven’t really done this. I have never stayed in a hostel or been camping. Something else I need to add to the bucket list.
  21. Do something for charity. Like I said in number 17, I definitely need to be conscious and make time for this. I would love to raise money for a charity – something I will look into.
  22. See your favourite band or singer play live. I have certainly seen some of my favourites live!
  23. Travel alone. I have never done this and I know a lot of people have but it just never happened. I have travelled to some amazing places but just not on my own.
  24. Unplug for a weekend. Definitely some of the best weekends have been without social media and technology.
  25. Begin practicing self-love. Over the past couple of years, I have realised who I am and what I want and how happy I am. I perhaps don’t make enough time to check in with myself as regularly as I should as I am very much a ‘keep going no matter what’ kinda gal.
  26. Make amends with anyone you hold a grudge against. I don’t really hold grudges. I just say it as it is. But in my youth (how old do I sound!) I have had fallings out with friends and of course made amends. I am also at that stage in my life where I have a handful of close friends and any differences would never result in a grudge being held.
  27. Practise gratitude. I did start gratitude journaling and kept it up for several weeks but you just need to complain sometimes! Right?
  28. Start saying affirmations. I have heard of people doing this but guys, this just isn’t for me. However, it’s great if it works for you.
  29. Develop a morning routine. I have this down to a T! 🙌 I wake up at 5:50am and feed the cat. I then make a coffee and catch up on news, emails and social channels. I’ll do my makeup and hair in less than 15 minutes and then be ready to leave the house by 7am.
  30. Write your own list. I think Glamour’s list is pretty comprehensive but here are only a couple of other things I had hoped of doing before turning the big 3 0. Some of them like owning a house, loving my job and having our first pet I am very grateful for.

Get on the property ladder, travel to America, visit Norway, climb Mount Snowdon, own a pet, have a good career, run 10k

With only a month to go before I predictably turn 30 in some sort of lockdown, I guess travelling to America and Norway will just have to wait that little bit longer. I will definitely be ticking off climbing Mount Snowdon and running 10k in 2021.

Feed of Change

Good evening everyone. For those of you who follow me on Instagram, you will know that I am making a lot of changes to my feed and what I share with you all. Some of you who follow me here may never have seen my Instagram. If you would like to follow me over there too, then my account can be found below or on my home page. I thought I would just make it really black and white and put together a little blog post about what exactly will be changing and the reasons why.

I have been thinking about changing up the aesthetic on my feed for a while now and was really worried how it would be received. I guess I was worried because every day when I see I have over 5,600 followers I still can’t believe it. The thought of thousands of you who followed me for a reason not being happy with what I am deciding to do now is a bit daunting. 😂

I will be continuing to chat to you on stories and share little bits of my life over on there too. I will also continue to share my favourite posts for my fashion hashtag #sundaysstyledinspo each Sunday. The way I share accounts on a daily basis will be a little different from now on and I will also be sharing more Pinterest boards with you guys for interiors and styling inspiration. Pinning ideas is something I love…lusting over all the gorgeous interiors and wishing I had the wardrobe of dreams so why not share them with you?

Over on my feed I will share interiors posts, style posts and a couple of lifestyle posts each week. I will of course continue to work with brands I am passionate about and I have a lot of giveaways coming up which you will all LOVE. I am trying to post a certain theme on a particular day but I will just have to see how this works. You will be seeing less of my face on my feed as I move away from #selfies and upload more uniformed styling posts alongside the other types of posts I have already mentioned.

These changes are happening solely for me. I want to put more thought into what I want to be sharing with you all. Even though my face may not make a regular appearance, my squares are not any less personal. These changes are not happening because of any other reason than I feel like a change needs to happen and now is the right time.

I am really excited about it all and planning my feed for the next two weeks has really given me so much joy – something I feel like I had lost on this platform recently.

Thank you so much for all of your kind messages and lovely DMs – my favourite bit about this funny little app.
